"Debut", & Other Poems

My debut in sharing my poetry, plus an actual poem I wrote a long time called "Debut", so that's fun.

I really never share my poetry, but I thought since this is my blog (and currently it's only being visited by like two people, heehee) why not?

Debut

It’s the first time: emphasis on time:

it’s the last time: emphasis on it’s.

I don’t think I knew it when it happened

That it was real or fake or something in between

That I was real, fake, something in between—

I simply did, I simply had,

I was left to reinstitute myself to myself:

whether the before was true,

the after was less so;

I won’t know, I never will.

Fool to Feel

I'm a fool to feel anything.

Every flower I pick resents my naïvety,

And every couple I pass --

Comfortable in their own discomforts --

Pities me for my self-pity.

But I let myself feel

Or else the wounds would grow

To cavities

And my heart would grow

To strangle my senses -

although it very much already has.

Still, I am but a fool,

because feelings cannot act upon their own misconceptions.

They simple succumb drunkenly into a vineyard of moments you never had,

And drink the wine of desire.

Someone Wrote a Song About You

Someone wrote a song about you,

I heard it on my commute.

They captured your danger beautifully,

And so I went off my usual route.

I heard their velvet vocals

Inside my dreary head.

Your locked-in-lips, your cobblestone kiss,

Your eyes a cherry red.

They painted on last portrait

Of a dream I used to know--

A feeling so attached to me,

I was shocked to have it exposed.

Someone wrote a song about you,

and I'll admit they wrote it well.

But to carve you out so delicately

Is denial of your hell.

Spotify Hacker

Maybe all he wanted was someone else's songs

Like a routine car ride carried by the childlike sound-waves.

Giddy off your mom's vintage radio stations, with

Falsetto clouds drifting from your peace-loving eyes.

Every one of those bears fell asleep somehow.

Thanks for reading. Comment down below which poem was your favourite, and feel free to give constructive criticism if you so feel the urge.
