Life Update: October 2020

Updated: Jul 12, 2021

So I realize I haven't written for basically two months. I have a draft from one month ago that says "Life Update: One Month Later," but then I didn't have the motivation or energy to finish that one, so now I am here two months later. But I am paying for this blog, so I might as well use it, right?

A lot has happened, but also nothing at all. Let me fill you in on the big things.

My car got totalled.

I got into a collision on the way to pick my brother from school when a young driver pulled out of their parking spot and straight into the side of my vehicle. The damage was too much for the insurance company to repair so unfortunately, we had to put down Krusty the Kia. I've had a lot of great memories with him so it's been really sad, but I am looking at finding a proper replacement (although nothing will really replace him. Yes, I am extremely attached to a vehicle. Don't judge).

I got a new seasonal position at a bookstore.

Yup-- after years and years of applying for this exact job, I finally managed to get it! Although it is just seasonal, I am looking forward to trying it out and see how I like it. Honestly, I am very nervous about starting, but I mean, who isn't scared of a new job? I know I'll adjust eventually (I absolutely hated my job at the movie theatre when I first started, but once I adjusted I thought it was the greatest thing ever).

I realized I hate online school.

Online university is evil, I hate it, but I am trying to make the best of it, just as we all are. I don't mind my classes, I guess. I will post an official ranking of my four classes in order from best to worst along with some pros and cons that go with it soon.

I realized I need to spend more time on my creative hobbies.

Well, actually, this just happened, but still. I am starting to realize I spend most of my time either:

a) doing nothing

or b) doing nothing

so I am starting to realize I should maybe go back to some of my hobbies, which include songwriting, poetry, blogging... maybe do some more Stardew Valley Perler beads like I was planning on doing at some point...

All that fun stuff. I will probably make a post/rant about online school and how it eats at your life and makes it hard to find both structure and downtime, but for now...

I will go.

With love,

Sophie
